Biography

Born in Switzerland in 1959 of Greek parents who migrated from Serres. Did all his studies in Geneva and got his Electronics Engineering Diploma in 1978. At age 23, Cosma moved to the USA where he stayed 21 years before returning to Switzerland in 2004.  In the USA Cosma worked in two large semiconductor corporations and did two successful startups.

Roboteq is the second company he founded. It started it in 2002 as a side project while employed at a large Electronics chip maker. Roboteq became a serious venture and a full-time job around 2010. Roboteq was acquired by Japan’s Nidec corporation and the world largest manufacturer of electric motors.

About Roboteq’s Technology

The components that Roboteq offers are among the most important when designing a Mobile Robot:

– Electric Motor controllers. This is Roboteq’s primary offering and the company’s have has the world’s largest selection of motor controllers that are optimized for this application. The motor controller makes the wheels turn in a precise manner so that the robot can move with precision to its destination.

– Navigation sensors. These are sensors that help the robot know where it is and that can guide it. Roboteq has the world’s easiest to use, and best-selling magnetic guide sensor. This is a sensor that lets a robot follow a magnetic tape glued on the floor without making physical contact.

– Power Management: This is the electronics that goes around modern lithium batteries so that they are always remaining optimally charged and that they operate safely.

– Electric Motors: Roboteq does not fabricate such motors but as a result of the acquisition, this will be one component that we will be able to offer.
